About 30,000 Chum salmon eggs! Year-round we thank the Suquamish Tribe for their friendship.

And at this time every year, CWCAP is fortunate to be able drive over to Grovers Creek Salmon Hatchery and pick up 20-30,000 salmon eggs provided to our salmon programs.

Eggs donated by the Suquamish Tribe’s Grovers Creek Salmon Hatchery are placed in incubators at Carkeek Park where they will hatch and eventually self-release into Venema Creek.

At the same time, 29 schools in the Salmon in the Schools program will get 200 salmon eggs each to hatch, feed, and study in their own chilled 55 gallon habitats for eventual release into Venema Creek.

The fall salmon run just ended in early December, but stay tuned because you’ll want to hear how this story continues!
